Attention, everyone!

I’ve got an announcement to make. After a week-long of intensive gossip – er, I mean, carrying out research, I now proudly present to you:

The 1st Annual Special Report on Selection of Civilian Apparel, STEC Edition

Psst. In normal English, that means bikinis!

Ehehe, I wanted to see how many people actually clicked below to actually read more. So, while I figure out how to redact the report properly, I do want to give you a bit of a preview in terms of what we did.

As an example, I’ve picked out 19 shipgirls all within the same “class.” For now, you’re gonna see three columns. They should be largely self-explanatory.

Oh. Style. Ordinary is pretty much everything else. “Vogue” is basically what’s popular in the contemporary United States. Remember that this is Pacific universe, United States, 1980s. This is the era in real life where Leia’s slave-bikini captured the imagination of an entire generation, after all, so if you want to know more go look at some fashion magazines to get an idea of what I’m talking about.

As for risque and very risque? Eh, you know what? I’m the one writing the study. I get to decide what’s risque and what’s not.

Source of Swimsuit Style Reason/Comment
National Retailer Ordinary Wanted a new swimsuit.
Private Artisan Very Risque There’s a new look that I wanted to try out. Plus, gotta set an example for the other girls! These are our beaches and you should feel free to wander around buck-naked if you so choose!
National Retailer Vogue The new style matches my hair and I like the slightly muted colors. It’s natural!
National Boutique Vogue I saw it on a trip back home to Lake Superior once and really wanted to get it. So glad that it’s still around.
Regional Boutique Risque I originally didn’t think I’d get a two-piece this small… But the staff was pretty persuasive. Now that I have it I think this is great for lounging around and terrible for everything else I want to do on the beach.
Private Artisan Very Risque A lady have to cut loose once in a while. Plus, someone needs to stand up for our traditions.
National Retailer Ordinary I don’t usually wear swimsuits. Picked one out based on Tautog’s recommendations. Fabric’s nice and I can definitely see why the US Olympics team train in these.
Private Artisan Very Risque I like to look sexy. You got a problem, take it up with the commander.
Private Artisan Very Risque What is a bikini, anyways? Does a bikini need to serve a function, or is just a stylistic choice? If so, why is a bikini different from lingerie? Can lingerie be bikinis? Can bikinis be lingerie-like and retain its chief purpose as a swimwear, or is the chief purpose of [Report Truncated (50/14, 499). Full text available in supplementary materials.]
National Boutique Ordinary I’m not that comfortable with some of the styles they showed, so I picked this one. It’s got a really pretty skirt and makes me feel pretty!
Private Artisan Ordinary Darling, sometimes you, like, go back to the classic look. I’ve got only like, five but every single one of them is a head-turner. Call it a perk of having found yourself, yeah?
National Retailer Vogue I thought it looked super cute when I walked by so I got it. Uhhh… Prisse, help, did you want a more insightful answer?
UNDISCLOSED UNDISCLOSED PRISSE DID MIKE GIVE YOU PERMISSION TO RUN THIS STUDY? UNTIL I SEE A SIGNED AUTHORIZATION I’M NOT TELLING YOU ANYTHING! AND EVEN IF THERE IS ONE DO I NEED TO REMIND YOU HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO SECURE YOUR OWN PRIVATE DATA? THE FOUNDING FATHERS FOUGHT FOR OUR FREEDOMS [Report Truncated (50/11,750). National Retailer Ordinary Lost the old one to a beach volleyball accident, so I just got a new one. I’m kinda boring and like to stick to what I’ve got. It’s easy to move in and really functional, so of course I’d get it again!
Regional Boutique Risque I don’t buy much clothes, but when I do I want to make sure it’s me. Being a bit on the shorter side I feel like cute & sexy work better for me.
Private Artisan Very Risque I’m going to wear something I’ve never worn before in my life! Heh, it’s kinda exciting and scary at the same time.
Private Artisan Risque At last I can wear what I want rather than what’s “fitting” my role. Intelligence work is surprisingly taxing (mentally, not physically), and I’m rather fond of the ah, service-y types.
Private Artisan Ordinary (?) I like my formalwear, okay?
National Boutique Vogue Flag bikinis NEVER go out of style!

See? This is pretty neat isn’t it? It’s really fun to see everyone in their bikinis, and it’s even more fun for me to get to uh, know the other girls this way. I mean, this thing obviously isn’t anonymous, but at the same time, it’s really just something for us that I thought was nice to share.

Eeeh, my own swimsuit? How I’d classify it?

Well, sport, that’s up to the individual viewer, isn’t it? All you have to know is that I picked it out and I love wearing it. In the end, that’s what matters, isn’t it?
